Instructions on how to share your stories about LL:

[From Ka] It’s hard to convey what any one of us is feeling right now as we mourn the loss of LL. A reception following a memorial service usually provides the place to hug, laugh and cry as stories and memories are shared with each other and with family members. Since a reception is not possible with Covid-19, there is a huge gap to fill in the healing process. This is further complicated, since so many of our friends and family are not able to attend the memorial service here in Dallas, on the 23rd.

So, let’s get creative and share stories and memories on this website as a creative solution to aid in the healing process.

Through this page, we want to give you that opportunity in whatever way is best for you: in writing or via video. We will share your stories here on the website, and some may be included in the service on the 23rd.

Here’s how…

Take a minute and figure out what you are going to say. It could be a favorite story about LL, something you learned from him, how he encouraged you, maybe a fond memory—or maybe he owes you money!? No matter the topic, grab your phone and create a video and send it to us.

If you would prefer to share your thoughts in writing, that’s great too, just email it to bc@txbc.me by the 20th. If you are creating a video, here’s what we are shooting for:

Create video 1 = Create a “Love You” video. Super short. 10 seconds or less. These will be spliced together and included in the memorial service on the 23rd. Here’s a sample:

Optional: Create video 2 = “Stories about Papa L". These can be longer, up to maybe 2-3 minutes. Here’s a sample:

Either way, here are some important tips:

  1. Record the video horizontally—ie, “landscape” with the phone sideways vs up & down.

  2. Record it in a quiet place.

  3. Record it in a place where there’s decent light. Hint: we all look best with morning or evening sunlight — not high noon.

  4. Please say your name at the beginning of the both videos, and if you think it’s helpful, share how you know Papa L.

Finally, send it to me by Friday Nov 20th. There are a few ways you can do that:
